Event Description

TAKE PART IN A UNICEF UK ACTION DAY IN MARBLE ARCH!

I will attend the event with my toddler alongside other parents from the area. The more of us, the better!

Please find below information provided by the organisers of the event.

Day in, day out, our children are breathing dangerously high levels of air pollution. We need to show people around the UK that this is wrong. Every child has the right to health. Every child has the right to live, learn and play in a clean and safe environment.

We’re looking for people to join us on Saturday 16th March @10:45am for a photo stunt.

Children and young people, clean air campaigners, decision-makers and members of the public will be coming together in each of these cities around a huge 10ft banner decorated with children's artwork that shows how strongly they feel about the importance of clean air in their city.

We'd love for you to come along, and to bring your children if you have them! We’d also love for you to make your own placards that talk about what clean air means to you to bring along too!

We’re hoping that local media will come along to take a snap to publish in the local paper and show the support for clean air in your city. We’ll also take photos for use on our social media channels.

Please arrive promptly on 16th March for 10:45am, we will aim to be finished by 12 pm.

WHY AIR POLLUTION?

Around one in three children are growing up in parts of the UK with harmful levels of toxic air. Breathing toxic air can leave children with lasting health problems. It can stunt their lungs and brains, and increase their risk of asthma and pneumonia.

These are problems no child should have to face, and no parent should have to take.

Under the UK Government’s current plans, air pollution in the UK is expected to remain at harmful levels for at least another 10 years.

That’s a very long time in the early life of a child. But there are things we can and must do now to make a difference.

That’s why we need you to help us show the UK Government that there is support for changes to protect children in your local area.

WHY WE NEED YOU

Unicef UK want to ensure child-friendly measures are put in to place across the UK, to ensure children breathe clean air where they learn and play.

Children across the UK have been campaigning for clean air through our Outright campaign: https://www.unicef.org.uk/rights-respecting-schools/outright/. And now we need you to join them and to help us show the UK Government that there is support for changes to protect children in your local area.

You do not need any previous expertise or knowledge of the subject to attend. We hope it'll be a fun morning for you and your family!
