Just to let you all know that 'Keeping Bees in Towns and Cities' now available in the window of the lovely Queens Park bookshop in Salusbury Road. The author Luke Dixon was at QP day, talking to QPCS students re. urban beekeeping.

Hi my name is Sara and I live on Rowley Way and last year we won the Capital Bee competition and myself and two other residents have almost completed our 40 hour course.  We have our beehive and expect our bee's mid April.  It has been one of the most interesting things I have done in a very long time. The plan is to have the apiary on our tenants hall roof.  Some people reading this might be familiar with Alexandra & Ainsworth estate or better known to some as Rowley Way.  We have put in to the Heritage Lottery Fund for money to restore our park back to it's former glory and we have got through the first stage and now working towards stage 2 of the bid which will be submitted in August - our park is called Alexandra Road Park.  If you would like to become a Friend please email friendsofARP@gmail.com.  We welcome anyone who is interested.  You can read more about this and all the stuff we do here on our website www.alexandraandainsworth.org.  If anyone would like to talk to us about our bee's then please feel free.  Sara

Hi my name is Mike.

I am starting a project photographing bee keepers and bees themselves.

The project is about the mutual respect between the keeper and the bee, showing the beauty of the collection of honey and the care you put in collecting it. 

This is partly an issue-based project, due to the worldwide problems Apiarist are facing with the loss of Honey Bee Colonies, mainly associated with environment and climate factors, leading to the colony collapse disorder (CCD). I wish to find out more about the issues raised in the UK and Europe.

This is a non-profitable personal project of mine and will lead to extending my photographic portfolio and my personal interest in beekeeping. Actually, one day I hope to have an apiary myself!

Hi. I am also a member of Brent Friends of the Earth (FoE) and national FoE have a new campaign in the pipeline on Bees. I'm not sure what sort of campaign it will be yet but I will keep my eyes peeled for it and perhaps it will be something Brent FoE and TTKK can join up on to support?

Bees Abroad are a charity supporting beekeeping projects in developing countries. Beekeeping can be a low cost way to alleviate poverty in Africa where bees are numerous. They will come and give talks about their low maintenance beekeeping. Their contacts are: www.beesabroad.org.uk

Hi,I am organising a couple of talks to try and promote beekeeping in Paddington.  Can anyone please help out by coming down to the two libraries for half an hour or so to answer questions from the participants.
