Hi,
just to let people know that in about a year I'll have hopefully 2 allotment plots coming up and I plan to use them to create permaculture gardens by and for the community, where people with skills can come together and teach those who want to learn etc. Even though we don't have the actual land just yet, we can start planning a permaculture garden and how the group might work... (ok don't know which way it faces or what type soil etc, but can at least start researching what we might grow etc)

I've resent Harriet at the Permaculture Association UK (Based in Leeds) another email and see if she can provide us with any leads. If not then no fear. I'm sure we'll find someone. I haven't been here long so I just need some time to establish contacts.

Count me in as one of the volunteers at the next permablitz gathering. I don't have much expertise, but lots of goodwill, and it sounds a great community way to start digging and beginning to learn how to grow vegs locally.

What do we need to start a Permablitz?
1. A space to transform/enhance...
This could be someone's garden or a communal space. There is a space on Winchester Avenue that would be great if we could engage the local residents. Another suggestion (from Nigel) was an allotment space that he has access to.
2. Expertise... someone to lead the Permablitz and tell us all what to dig/plant etc... Rachael suggested getting in touch with experienced and skilled allotment holders. Millo may have some Permaculture contacts.
3. Volunteers - all of those who want to come and help dig/plant/learn/chat/drink tea/get fed etc etc... This could involve time banking too.
