Queens Park Allotment (active group)

Most of the plot is now divided into mini-plots, with individuals each taking responsibility for a numbered mini-plot. 'Garden together' events, where as many members as possible come along are posted on the website regularly. Large tools are provided but please bring your own small trowel, fork and gloves. If you are interested in having a mini-plot, please register on the website and post a comment with your enquiry.

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to get everything set up for a morning building the new raised beds for the refugees on Monday 18th March at 10.00. Can you post whether you can be there? All available help needed! Feel free to bring your friends!  Maggie

A note to the people waiting for a plot...

I have been asking around, given the lack of free plots at our project.

The William Dunbar group and the Kilburn Tube Gardeners Group both have spaces for more gardeners - see the group websites for details of when and where they meet. I wonder if any of you would like to become involved at one or the other, since there are no plots available at present in Queens Park and the prospects aren't looking too good.

You could still stay on the waiting list for Queens Park if you got involved elsewhere and it would make it possible for you to get started sooner rather than later.

Hope this is helpful. Maggie

Hi Marianne and welcome to the group. Yes, you are among the people waiting for a plot. Unfortunately, there will be no plots in the original area this year as they are all taken and everyone wants to continue. I am trying to get some additional space elsewhere in the park. Will report back when there's anything to report.

Re the extra beds for refugees, it's on the agenda for the transition meeting for the evening of Thursday March 2nd at 8.00 p.m. at St. Anne's in Salusbury Road. Everyone is welcome if you would like to come along. We will be thinking about what funds to apply for and where from. Maggie

Maggie, how about Marianne! Not only Kirsty, Sally and Tiffany!

How much money is needed for those extra beds for refugees?

Thanks,

Marianne

I have on the waiting list Kirsty, Sally and Tiffany. Is that everyone?

Mark, I didn't realise you were returning this year. Good news!  I have planted the front quarter of the bed I was care taking for you last year. Will now desist and sort it out when I see you!  Maggie

I will organise a 'garden together soon'. Two other things going on at the mo... (1) trying to get some funding to create new beds to allocate to refugees,

(2) exploring the possibility of some extra beds in a different part of the park for people on the waiting list.

Good to see that you all want to continue - (though not quite so good for people on the waiting list...)

Leo, do you want to continue?

Nilufer, does your friend/neighbour also want to continue?

I think I've heard from everyone else.

Hi Maggie,
Over the past few years, I've loved visiting the plots and always considered joining. This year, I'll be brave so could I ask to be added to the waiting list, please.

Many thanks.

Hello,
I've recently moved to the area and would love to be put on the list for an allotment if possible? I understand that the list is probably quite long but I'd be happy to help anyone else with digging etc in the meantime. Let me know if I can be of help.
Best wishes,
Sally
