Hi All,
Suggested dates for the next food group meeting. We need to get together to discuss the bike tour to visit potential local food growing sites, discuss potential other projects amongst other things. Any suggested agenda please contact me either directly through this site or on this thread.
Evening meeting, same place as last time next door to the Lexi cinema
Tuesday 28th 7pm
Wednesday 29th 7pm
Myself and Ash can't make Thursdays, happy to do the meeting earlier or later, can't remember what time we met last time.
We will be in Scotland for the next couple of weeks so we will just have to go with the date that gets the most positive responses; when I get back I will confirm the date. We can always do a week later as well if more suitable but the sooner the better to get stuff going.
See you all at the end of September.

Hi everyone,
I run one of the first ever organic carbon neutral farms and once a month we deliver our meat boxes in London - look up Fieldpower in www.BigBarn.org.uk.
The next delivery will be on Wednesday 29th September and I would like to take this opportunity to show you all on that day a presentation on how we changed in four years from townies and non-farmers to 'Transition farming'.

Recently I presented this story at The Royal Agricultural College and also at the last Transition Network International conference, where it was received enthusiastically as an inspirational real life story.

We are also contacting other organic farmers with a view to extend our monthly carbon free deliveries to London and distribution to individual addresses and/or distribution points, to extend the range of available produce.
All within the new Transition Twinning concept of partnerships between rural and urban Transition Groups for food supply, home swaps for holidays, working holidays on farms, ideas and enthusiasm sharing, etc, etc. We hope this will develop into a realistic, low cost, zero carbon food conveyor from rural to urban areas, as well as many other forms of co-operation: http://www.transitionnetwork.org/projects/transition-twinning

I'll just need a projection screen or a white wall plus about an hour of your time and we can devote as much time afterwards as you need for questions.

Thanks for letting us all know about the local food sites - its fantastic that there is so much enthusiasm and that so many sites are in the process of becoming active.

Could you let us know when the next food planning meeting is please, and when the cycle ride visiting the sites might be happening in the Autumn?

Does anyone know about elderberries - there is a tree on the corner of creighton and peploe road in a unused garden. I think it is an elderberry tree. It has a few bunches of good looking berries. Can anyone walking or cycling past have a look and let me know if it is before I get my ladder out to pick them and make something...... I would hate to poison my family!!

Capital Growth's summer networking event sounds like a really useful meeting to go to if anyone is interested and available...

Capital Growth is a campaign aiming to support 2,012 new community food growing spaces in London, by the end of 2012. We will be holding our next networking event and this time we'll be focusing on how groups can best engage with the local community. There'll also be the usual opportunity to network with other community food growers over delicious food and drink.

Admission is free to all Capital Growth members and £5 to those people not registered with Capital Growth.

Michael and I both made some brief notes at Wednesday's food meeting. The main subject we discussed was getting more community allotments going for next year. I've got a list of sites that have been mentioned and will post it on a separate discussion page here once I've updated it this week... Here are the other notes from this week's meeting:
• Paulette is going to organise the next meeting
• Ashley suggested a bike ride to visit potential community allotment sites
• There is space for guerilla gardening on Wakeman road
• There is a triangle of land behind Kingsgate workshop
• Kilburn Grange has blackberries planted all around the adventure playground
• Kingsgate workshop has an education room we might be able to use
• The Lexi want to become an eco-hub (and Sally is going to dig up the car park)
• Virginio is a guerilla gardener along the canal towpath
• Josie has contact in Ryde House re allotments
• Claudia has done permaculture course
• Tom is into finding wasteland
• Helen is into garden swap
• Queens Park will have bee hives
• Someone at farmers market has loads of hives
• Some people are apparently cultivating railway embankments already
• Michael used to be a baker and a pastry chef

Hi Foodies,
Just got back from my first TTK2K Food Meeting and have found myself responsible for organising the next Food Meeting which will be towards the end of September or beginning of October.
I would be really grateful if people could send me items for the agenda along with ideas about what we want this agenda to look like.
Even if you are unable to attend (once the date is set) please still feel free to contribute your thoughts and ideas.
Looking forward to meeting more of you over the coming months and getting some new food projects off the ground.

Hi guys,
I've got Naturewise interested in coming to run an introductory course into permaculture which I gather there might be interest in. It would cost £300 for the weekend, so the more people interested the cheaper it would be, and they are suggesting late August / September, and we would need to provide a venue.
My idea was that this venue could also be the place where we could start preparing a permaculture garden for the community; however, at intro level, there may not be time to actually physically start the garden.
Since I have done the course a year ago, I am hoping somebody might take over the organization of this as I probably won't come on it, but it is really interesting. There are further courses you can do at a higher level, as there is lots to learn, so I'm doing another in September...
I hope there is enough interest to get this going!
