Hello all,

For those of you that are interested our permaculture teaching collective is offering another introduction to permaculture course:

Introduction to Permaculture

26th and 27th May 2012
Hackney City Farm

Permaculture uses whole system thinking to consciously create productive environments that mimic the diversity, stability and resilience of natural systems. With these techniques, we can design for abundance, enjoy superior health and well being, and empower ourselves towards more sustainable choices.

The workshop will be lively, participatory and thought provoking.
You will learn about:
· the ethics and principles of permaculture
· useful design methods
· observation skills
· forest garden design
· how to apply these techniques to design your own urban systems

The total cost for the course is £120. We welcome Time Credits and concessions are available by arrangement.

I am a member of a pemaculture teachers collective and wanted to just highlight a couple of courses that are coming up.

Hi everyone,

I am part of a group called the London equality group. It is a non-political group which aims at raising awareness about inequalities in the UK and at reducing the income gap. Among others, a more equal society is a society where people trust each other more, hence a better community spirit!

We're running a campaign called "My Fair London" (www.myfairlondon.org.uk).

We've launched a petition. We need as many signatures as possible.

So, don't hesitate to visit the website and give us your support. It is worth it!

Hi Natalie

According to our gardening expert Sarah, who will speak at Monday's meeting:  "LB Brent has lots of info on its website. Each allotment site is listed and it says whether there is a waiting list - there is in nearly all cases. I don't know how recently updated this info is. Gladstone Park Gardens, for example, where I have my plot, is listed as having a waiting list but we have been told it is about to close because of demand.

A shame. Hence the need to create community kitchen gardens etc."

Hi Natalie, welcome to the area!  We don't as yet have regular meetings, our next public meeting is on 3rd October - see http://ttkensaltokilburn.ning.com/events/transition-willesden-publi... , and so far we've been holding them at the Rising Sun pub on Harlesden road behind Willesden Green library centre.  Hope to see you along soon!

Sunday 18 September at 2pm: Green Walk

To celebrate public access to the living roof, local guerilla gardener and artist Caroline Todd will lead a green walk from Tate Britain to Beaconsfield’s own patch of green. The walk starts at Cultivate Tate: Team Gardening’s herb garden, and will include a visit to guerilla gardens and Arden House’s community-built Biodiverse Roof on Lambeth Council Garages along the way. Assemble at Tate Britain Millbank Entrance for a prompt 2pm start.

Tangential perhaps to the Tranistion Group, but I hope relevant nonetheless: please consider signing this petition against the proposed  cuts in street cleaning around our neighborhood, which is bound to have negative  environmental consequences:
