Minutes of Initiating Group – 04/11/09
Present: Careen Hertzog, Elaine Henderson, George Latham, Nadezdha Rojas, John Smith, David Young
Apologies: Chris Wells, Jane Edwards
· Jane Edwards has decided to stand down from the initiating group in order to be able to devote more time to other activities, including GreenSpace. Jane has been involved in Transition KtoK since the very start and we are all so grateful to her for her part in all that we have achieved over the last 18 months. Jane has always been a font of good sense and has given so much time to the project and ensuring that it has got off to a successful start. I’m sure that she will remain very much involved even after stepping off the initiating group. We’ve said in the past that we should target the initiating group to number between 5 and 9 members. Post Jane’s departure we will be 7, and will be looking to add one or two new members in the near term.

· The Green Drinks held in October jointly with Brent Artists Resource was a success. Although there weren’t that many people attending, there was a great deal of enthusiasm and a willingness to do more.
· Careen Hertzog is talking to the PSA at QPCS regarding a potential allotment site on grounds between the school and Tiverton Park
· Everyone is very enthusiastic about Emily Hamilton’s plans to produce a regular newsletter for Transition Kensal to Kilburn. We’ve included an amount within the budget for printing some paper versions of the newsletter, but we need to be careful not to create paper waste – so concentrate on e-newsletters and be careful in leaving too many paper copies lying around
· SkillSharing. We discussed the idea of a series of skillsharing workshops. We should be able to launch the series before Christmas and already have plans for Christmas Card making (Marjory Fraser), Paper Bead Jewelry (Polly Pollock) and Knitting lessons (Shira Geva). The idea is to provide a forum for transitioners to learn a new skill or to share a skill that they have. We are hoping that members will suggest workshops that they would like to see or workshops that they could run.
· Now that we have got the food group up and running and working as a separate group we want to do the same in other areas. John Smith will be setting up an open meeting for the Buildings and Energy Group – hoping to draw in new members to establish what activities to do next in this area.
· We are aiming for a Transition film with the Lexi cinema to be combined with a Christmas party during December.
· The next meeting of the initiating group will be on Tues 14th December 2010.
