Getting involved with Transition Town

TT has no paid workers so everything that happens is because a group of people wanted to do it. These are some of the areas of help, ideas and skills Transition Town particularly welcomes. You can contribute on a one-off basis without any commitment or pressure! Some of these projects are for later in the year rather than right now (March 2010).

Contacts and publicity

  • Suggesting names or connections with local schools, churches and other faith groups, resident associations, housing associations, community groups, clubs, older people, young people, local businesses etc
  • Help get young people and older people involved in TT
  • Photograph our events
  • Find venues in addition to the farmers market where we can publicise TT with our stall

Miscellaneous

  • Share your experience / give advice on becoming greener, eg if you have joined a car-club or fitted greywater recycling
  • Writing fundraising applications
  • Experience of working with local authorities
  • Climbing trees (to shake fruit off)
  • Start a project such as a skills exchange group (LETS/Timebank)
  • Tool/knife sharpening skills
  • Come up with your own suggestion for what TT can do – and maybe make it happen yourself
