Most of the plot is now divided into mini-plots, with individuals each taking responsibility for a numbered mini-plot. 'Garden together' events, where as many members as possible come along are posted on the website regularly. Large tools are provided but please bring your own small trowel, fork and gloves. If you are interested in having a mini-plot, please register on the website and post a comment with your enquiry.

Thanks Maggie - and thank you Tiffany, too :)

Really sorry to hear about the problems with the playground beds. I emailed Mick Guerin and have had a reply:

We will keep an eye on the planters in the playground, it might be that it is happening after we close at night. Usually with this sort of thing it passes very quickly as they just get bored of it, it is annoying though.

I think what you are doing, Tiffany, actually talking to the kids is as likely to work as anything.

Do please let me know of any further problems - I will keep an eye on it and make sure the Park knows too. Maggie

Hi Barbara, welcome. I'm in the plot next to you. Sorry to hear your plants have disappeared. I'm guessing it was a bit too tempting for someone especially since they weren't in the ground.

Kirsty, I told a few kids off the other day for pulling up your netting. After I explained they were someone's who took the time to carefully place it there, they were apologetic and asked questions about the plots.

I have also found bits of plants pulled out and trash in the plots. A sign might be a good idea, the kids might not be able to read, but hopefully their parents will inform them.

I have lots of oregano on my plot which was there already. It's the only thing that seems to be doing well so please help yourselves.

Tiffany

Hi Barbara! I have the bed two down from you - hopefully I'll see you sometime soon! I have had a few issues with things being dug up and some netting and canes ripped out, but I'm not sure if it is kids or a fox! Hopefully once they're planted in, they will stay there! See you down there soon hopefully! Kirsty

please help yourselves to some sorrel from my plot as it is huge!

Barbara, I would avoid leaving anything unplanted on your plot as it is unfortunately an invitation to some people to help themselves. And i also recommend Queens park farmers market to get some starter plants as they are very competitive price and easy walk to get them into the soil quickly.

As you are growing and talking to people as they walk into the playground i am sure people will start to realise they are personal plots - but maybe a transition town sign could be put up by them as i remember last year it was herbs and free for people to help themselves...

happy growing!!

best,

Kate

Hi everyone,
I am the newest member of the group and wanted first of all to thank you all for welcoming me!
After getting lots of teaching from Helen and Daniel on Sunday, I went to buy some tomato and strawberry plants that I left on my allotment ready to plant this coming weekend. Unfortunately, most of them disappeared either today or yesterday. I was wondering if by any chance one of you would have any idea where they might have gone? My allotment is the first one behind the paddling pool as you walk in that area, so I am afraid it might just be people who were in the playground who took them... in that case it is very annoying and I was wondering if that happened to the other members who have an allotment there? The good thing is that I now have a good excuse to go back to the delicious cafe at Clifton nurseries ;-)
Have a good evening,
Barbara.

Great work on the plots yesterday and a nice lunch and chat in the cafe for those who could stay on - and it even rained overnight to help the plants we put in get established!

Helen was asking about my (very wonderful!) perennial kale plants. The link is here:

Quite expensive to begin with but they really do keep on giving!
