SUMMARY:Pruning fruit trees training
DESCRIPTION:[For people unable to make this date, there are a few plac
 es on Saturday January 22nd for the same training with Mapesbury group
 ]\n \n Pruning stimulates new growth, improves the quality of fruit 
 and makes it easier to pick.  Come and learn how to prune neglected s
 mall and medium-size apple or pear trees. We’ll also learn something
  about controlling pests and diseases.\n \nThe training is suitable f
 or both beginners and people with experience. The day will be spent ha
 nds-on pruning about three trees in Brondesbury Park under guidance an
 d supervision, unless the weather is too bad.\n \nI hope participants
  can put their skills into practice in the weeks after the training, h
 elping each other prune their own trees or trees we’ve previously ha
 rvested.\n \nIdeally please bring a clean,sharp pair of bypass secate
 urs. These cost about £5 but we will have a few spares.  Saws & lopp
 ers will be provided.\n \nLawrence Usherwood, an arborculturalist and
  Brent’s enthusiastic and very knowledgeable Tree Protection Officer
  is our trainer. There’ll be up to 12 trainees. Price: £5 for the
