Thanks for all the comments, folks, and for the photos, Shiva. Change of plan for tomorrow, Wednesday. First we will plant Archie's seed potatoes (hope you're bringing them along, Archie.) Second, we'll think about winter vegetables - seems odd with spring just coming, I know, but the seed for leeks, kale, broccoli, brussel sprouts - whatever you feel like growing - need to go in now.

The runner bean wigwams can wait a while - beans can't go out anyway until May because of the risk of frost.

See you tomorrow! Maggie

Thanks Maggie for the gardening session on saturday - the first time I have planted seed potatoes!

Jess, sorry but your dog must be kept on a lead and under proper control in the park, he/she wouldn't be able to wander freely.

Shiva, great pictures.

Maggie I have asked staff to sort out some tools for you, I will let you know when they have them available for you.

I'd love to come next Saturday. Are dogs allowed to roam around, I know QP have their rules...

The Saturday group planted 36 seed potatoes - a number of different varieties, some of them unknown, so we shall see what comes out of the ground ...

We planted them through holes in cardboard and thought of four reasons for doing this, rather than putting the potatoes into the ground and leaving it uncovered. Anyone want to guess (or remember ...) what the reasons were?

We weeded and dug and measured worms as well, with the help of the younger group members.

Next Wednesday at 2.00, we will be making the two runner bean wigwams. Here's hoping it's a beautiful day like today!
