Present: Viv, Sarah, Urmi (Minutes), Marjory

Membership

Sarah announced that she would be leaving the group as she plans to move out of London. We are all really sorry to see her go, but wish her all the best.

Minutes from last meeting/matters arising

  • Wildflower planting – Sarah suggested that as some councils invite local businesses to sponsor the roundabout planting, we could suggest this as a good way to fund wildflower planting on Brent roundabouts/traffic islands. All present agreed it was a good suggestion, with some reservations about the type of businesses that would be advertised. With Sarah leaving, there is no one leading on this.

  • Willesden greenspace – Sainsburys have pulled out, with no reason given.

  • Gmail/website – gmail now working, web URL still not pointing at our K2K webspace. ACTION Urmi will fix this.

  • Future communal meals – St Mungo’s no longer an option as a venue.

Finances

  • Urmi produced a draft summary report for the last year ending 31 March, but it will have to be amended as the money from Brent council for the fruit harvesting project has no yet been received in the Transition K2K account.

  • ACTION Viv will forward Urmi details for this and Urmi will follow up with Brent

  • Our accounts balance at year end and currently is £231.15, we actually have £236.77 cash.

  • The application form for the CO-OP bank account was completed by all, and we agreed that Urmi should send it off.

Fruit Harvesting group –

  • The review meeting was held last month, and went well. Although there are many people on the mailing list, we now need new people to organise the group, as Liam will not be leading this.

  • It was agreed at the review meeting that we would hold a further organising meeting, to plan the next step, looking for people to get involved at all levels.

  • If there is no-one to take this on, the group may have to be disbanded, and the money returned to Brent.

Future Events

  • MAPRA AGM – On 30 April. No seed swap any more. Viv and Urmi will take leaflets, food junction handbooks.

  • Green Energy Talk/ AGM – ~Joju Solar, and Energy Solutions both available for talk, but venue is now a problem. The Library lab/Electric house not available, Rising Sun now charge £50. Postpone talk to 8th May or 4th/5th June depending on venue + speakers.

    • ACTION Marjory check with Rising Sun, Urmi ask in church halls, Viv ask Electric house.

    • ACTION Urmi to borrow projector and check dates with speakers.

    • Will need to give 21 days notice for AGM. Running order will be AGM, refreshment, energy talk.

  • Town Team – proposing a pocket park near Dudden Hill Lane that we could get involved in. It was felt that we should wait and see how this got on before committing to getting involved. They are also involved in the Poplars Avenue ‘town square’ development.

Publicity

  • Chris has finished our new logo, approved by all. He will also be produicing other resources. We agreed a £50 payment as a gesture for all the hard work he has put in – he has not charged for the service.

  • A leaflet has been produced by Viv.

AOB

  • Welsh Harp development – this proposal is a danger to the Welsh harp wilderness and site of special scientific interest. ACTION Viv will respond on our behalf

  • ACTION Viv will prepare an update for our mailing list, and for the fruit harvesting mailing list

  • We will include congratulations to Jonathan Goldberg for his award!

  • Next core group meeting date 8th May
