Thanks for your comments. 

I'm sure your motives are good, but it's not OK to take a professional photographer's work and add it to another website without prior permission. My pictures are my copyright and my income.

Regarding flickr, it's definitely not OK to add my pictures to this website, as then they can and are quite likely to be used by other people/organisations for whatever purpose without the photographer's or subjects' permission.

Regarding using pictures in talks, it would be courteous to let me know what exactly you intend to use them for and what you'll be talking about. It's a copyright infringement otherwise.

Forgive me for taking this tone, but as a professional photographer, it's important to let people know  that they can't just take images and use them in whatever way they want.

Hi Jonathan, sorry, it was late last night & I was tired so kept explanations short, of course I won't use your pictures without your permission By adding them to the flickr file with your name & website link, I assumed this would help your professional work, as well as giving viewers a sense of the richness of art activity going on in your group, but you are quite right, it would have been sensible to have explained myself explained better.

As an artist, and a longtime member of a TransitionTown Arts Group, I've noticed that the arts tend to get left out of Transition discussions, the 'harder' areas, transport, energy, building, food, are always on the Agendas at meetings, but supporting and enabling Transition Arts can be a bit of a slog....which might just be my personal bias/experience...but anyway, about a year ago decided to run a workshop to explore this at the Schumacher Centenary Celebration & began collecting a data base of images to show the wealth of artistic ingenuity and activity around the world.

 

OK, have to stop now, someone's just rung & is turning up for b'fast & I'm still in bed with the curtains drawn ...laptops...eh, never alone with  a laptop

If this hasn't mollified you, let me know. Could you stick your logos over that pic,as you do on your website, perhaps?

Hi Jan, yes it's a sensible idea to put logos etc. on my images. I will address that and get back to you. Probably should do it with the pictures that I load on to K2K site anyway.

thanks Jonathan. Do you have any clearer pics of the Banner? &, would you know who the people are, I like to name & get permission from the people in pics too if they are close-ups. Though, presumably they've given permission to TTK&K to be on the web already.....documentary photog can be a bit of a minefield...not even legal much of the time now, as I'm sure you know. Sometimes I carry a bit of paper stating that I'm an artist, but even so, the police can confiscate my camera if they wish, or so I believe.

It's wrong to assume that the police can confiscate your camera. Street photography is NOT ilegal in UK (as it is in France). The police have stopped being quite so aggressive towards photographers in the last year or so, thanks to various campaigns after many stop and searches etc.

The lady on the left in this picture is Viv Stein, who set up Transition Willesden in the last year, and is a great environmental campaigner in the area. 

I'll have a look for other banner pictures in the next few days.
