Ranju and  I visited the site. As Elaine reported the site has fantastic potential as there is already a laid out garden with 18 raised beds. There are several small trees which could be apple or cherry. There are also some shrubs and a clematis over a bower. The beds just need to be cleared of weeds and the earth renewed. There is plenty space for a composting area. We got chatting to a couple of residents who said that one of the problems for the garden had been foxes digging up the beds. They werent particularly interested in the garden but with two large blocks there are bound to be lots of residents who are. The next step is to meet with the contact from the residents association and see if we can engage the residents in a plan. Marjory

Quick update on this- I've met last week with Jill Stringfellow from Brent Housing Partnership and Joseph Awosika, who runs the residents' association there, to discuss how to make progress.  They were both concerned that the garden was no longer locked- it used to be accessible only to key holders or to residents of the two blocks- and they want it to be locked again.  I thought this might make everything more difficult, but suggested a number keypad rather than an actual key.  I also explained that we were interested in helping and encouraging residents, not in doing all the work ourselves!  Any more news I'll post here.
