Moishe House London, our Willesden Green-based community house has launched a fruit and vegetable box scheme in partnership with local Willesden grocers A.W. Reynolds run by brothers Wayne and Alan (at no profit to ourselves).
Companies such as Riverford and Abel & Cole do a great job of delivering UK produce, but along with supermarkets they also divert profits from our local greengrocers, who are losing thousands of pounds in trade. In Transition terms, if all these shops close we will lose our local infrastructure and become dependent on supermarkets or large delivery companies .
When enough people order from our scheme we'll be able to start making purchases of organic items and seasonal specialities. We would love to sign up 100 people from the local area.
Boxes are generally delivered on Thursdays, but if enough people sign up this can be more flexible.
£10 for small £15 for regular, £20 for large in the Brent, Kilburn, Kensal, Cricklewood and West Hampstead area. A small delivery charge will apply for further areas. Flowers and organic eggs also available.
