We need you and your children this Saturday morning, for 15 minutes, to show Brent’s planners how popular the new sports facilities on Tiverton Green will be with our community.
1. Five of us set up a group called Friends of Tiverton Green last year to apply for grants. We were successful in our grant application to the London Marathon Trust, who will give the full £40k we applied for. This will be matched by Brent Council from various other funds, so the entire budget is now in place to put in the multi-use games area (MUGA), climbing walls, table tennis, landscaping, etc.
2. The MUGA still needs planning permission from Brent. The planning meeting is next week and the report recommends granting consent as the plans meet all their criteria for improving sports facilities in the borough. Many of you wrote in support of the plans which was invaluable.
3. You’ve probably seen work has already started on the western end of the tennis courts to remove the old surface. This end was not subject to planning permission, as no structures will be going in. This end is for a cycle circuit for kids to learn to ride bikes, plus grass and planting. You can see the full plans on our website: www.tivertongreen.org
How you can help
The Planning Committee will be visiting the site this Saturday 8th February. We know there’s one or two people living on The Avenue who object to the tennis courts being improved on the grounds of potential noise nuisance from people playing there. it’s therefore important that we let the Committee know the rest of the community is fully behind the plans.
Please go along to the tennis courts at 10.40 for 10.45 on Saturday morning with your kids and tell the planners how much you’re looking forward to this finally happening.
Can you please reply to let me know if you can make it.
Please forward this onto all your friends and neighbours – let’s get a big turnout.
We’re almost there – we just need this final small effort. Thank you.
