A friend of mine from TT Wimbledon is just about to start working at Morden Hall coordinating their Heart of the Park renovation project:

If anyone fancies popping down to take a look one day I'm sure we could have a chat with Caroline and we could coordinate a trip together.

hi Chris, I head down south every weekend for tennis, I'm also interested in traditional buildings and past/present issues in architecture so would be glad to go to se the project.

thanks

Cool.

Well, perhaps we should try to find another 2-3 people perhaps from the Buildings & Energy Group and see if we can organise a trip down.

Do you want to talk to some others in the group and see if you can find some other interested peopl?

When are good dates for anyone interested? I havn't met anyone from the group yet. I take it we'd need a whole morning or afternoon? Perhaps asking Caroline re: dates/times first would be best?

Hi Chris and Alexandra,

I'd be very interested to see the work involved in this and the progress on this project, so pls tentatively put my name down for a visit. I'd be curious to see how they've married heritage/restoration issues with sustainable technology and building methods. Let me know when you have some idea of dates.

Caroline's got back to me with some further info:

We do little tours mainly for staff/volunteers/local related orgs on Mondays at 10 and Fridays at 1 - you'd be welcome to join either of those, but I'm guessing they might be difficult.
Those times on other days are best too, as builders are on breaks. We don't really do weekends, as the builders don't work and the site's locked up, except the taster sessions which are on particular subjects and include a tour (and are free):

Sat 18 June – Under Floor Heating and Heat Pumps

Sat 13 August – Flooring and Materials

Sat 25 June - Waterwheel renovation

All taster days will be from 10am to 12.30pm.

Please contact us on 0208 545 6856 or by email to heartofthepark@nationaltrust.org.uk to reserve a place. As with previous taster days, places are limited and booking is essential to gauge numbers and to ensure we have sufficient protective clothing.

Hope one of those works. I'd like to offer more public tours but not sure if poss yet. If there were quite a few of you wanting a specific time I could see what I could do (definitely any time M-F till 4pm would be OK). But now generally is a good time to come as all the main energy featured are installed but not yet covered up.

This is as much information as I have right now. Unfortunately, I can't make any of these so please could someone take over coordination if there are enough interested people?
