New tariffs for small scale renewable energy generation announced today

The government department for energy and climate change today announced the details of the 'Feed-In Tariff' regime that comes in from 1 April 2010.

The feed-in tariff means that people or community organisations that invest in renewable energy generation systems such as rooftop solar systems or small scale wind can do so with much more certainty about what they will get paid for the energy that they generate.  The introduction of this regime is expected to generate significant growth in micro-generation.
