Pruning stimulates new growth, improves the quality of fruit, helps trees live longer and makes it much easier to pick the fruit. This means Kensal to Kilburn Fruit Pickers won’t be required as often, which, oddly, is a good thing.
Come along and discover how to prune small to medium trees with secateurs, loppers, a pruning saw and maybe a stepladder. We can lend tools to use in your own garden and provide a fellow-volunteer to help you carry out your pruning.
The session will be a mix of theory and practical. Rain and temperature permitting, we hope to go outside and jointly carry out a real live pruning on the day. If you know a tree to prune in walking distance of the library please let me know!
The idea is also that the group offers a voluntary pruning service to the people who let us pick their fruit last year and possibly to others in the area.
Carol French of Glorious Gardens is our trainer.
