Most of the plot is now divided into mini-plots, with individuals each taking responsibility for a numbered mini-plot. 'Garden together' events, where as many members as possible come along are posted on the website regularly. Large tools are provided but please bring your own small trowel, fork and gloves. If you are interested in having a mini-plot, please register on the website and post a comment with your enquiry.

Hi Everybody!
6 large gardeners and one small gardener started the veg growing year in the raised beds today. We had great day - lovely spring weather and the excitement of putting the different seeds in the earth. We planted:
spring onion 'Furio' (red)
lettuce 'Salad Bowl'
perpetual spinach
mizuna (a spicy salad leaf)
broad beans
On Saturday, we will be planting some seed potatoes.
We have decided to hold a competition between 'Pole Star', a red-flowering runner bean and 'White Lady', a white-flowering variety. Which will taste better? Which will be more tender? Which will produce more beans? Two members took home the bean seeds to start them off in pots.
Archie started digging over the triangle bed for 'Living Medicine' to plant up later with healing herbs and flowers.
The park keepers were very helpful and the cafe have agreed to collect their coffee grounds on the days we are going up. We will use them to feed the plants and help to deter slugs.
We are meeting again this coming Saturday at 11.00. If you couldn't come today, we hope to see you then. Maggie
hi maggie,
i was the other person that attended. so we are on to start next week at 2pm?

kate and leo
No problem Maggie, but if meetings do get changed please can this be posted giving us as much notice as possible.
Look forward to starting in a couple of weeks.
all the best
Natasha
Dear Natasha,
Sorry you turned up for nothing. I've just volunteered to co-ordinate the project and March 9th was not a time I could make. Yes, for the moment the Wednesday meetings will be scheduled for 2.00 p.m. and we'll see how it goes. Look forward to seeing you on the 23rd. Maggie
Hi Maggie,
i've just seen your post this morning coming back from today's scheduled meet. But there were only 2 of us were there, and waited until about quarter past.
Wasn't the first scheduled meeting supposed to be today Wed 9th, not yesterday?
I won't be able to make next Wednesday, but will be there on the 23rd. Will all the Wednesday meets be scheduled for 2pm?
I also don't have any tools, hope this won't be a problem?
Thanks, and look forward to starting in a coupla weeks.
Natasha
I am Maggie Turp and I am co-ordinating the Queens Park Allotment project as it gets started. I don't think the meeting scheduled for March 9th happened (see Richard's comment below ...) but we definitely have a meeting planned for Wednesday March 16th at 2.00 p.m. and subsequent meetings planned for Saturday 19th at 11, Wednesday 23rd at 2.00 and Saturday 26th at 11.
Do come along, or if you'd like to know more, drop me a email on maggieturp@googlemail.com
