I have a lot of seed planting and seedling growing-on pots, labels, seed trays, etc. to give away.  They are in the front garden of 34 Lynton Road. Please come and help yourselves.

Dear Food Growers  - a group of us at William Saville/Dunbar Allotment recently participated in a Phd research project on community gardens/allotments. It was a very energising experience and great way to end our growing year. Best of all we got a £50.00 voucher for the allotment for taking part. The researcher from Southhampton University is still looking for groups from preferably well established community allotments/gardens to interview. The interview takes about 90 minutes. If you are interested please contact k.brookes@soton.ac.uk

Hello, favour request!

I have just moved to Kilburn and am planning to grow some veg in my back garden! If any of you have any tools that I could borrow for a day or two I'd be very grateful! -Being a student, I'm trying to save buying too much! Ideally a large fork, a small fork or spade, some gloves and something to cut weeds with. If you have any or all of these things, I'd be happy to pick them up from yours and return them quickly.

By the way, the KK Area Forum (7pm, 4th April) will be at Kensal Rise Primary School, Harvist Rd.  And the agenda that I got last week does not mention allotments. I'll query that with the Chair. Rob.

BRENT ALLOTMENT STRATEGY/CONSULTATION. These are a few highlights from the meeting at Willesden Green Library Centre this evening that are relevant to KTK.

The Brent Officers are putting a lot of emphasis on what they call "Independent Food Growing Sites" such as those organised by Transition Towns and/or identified as Capital Growth sites. They seem very happy to promote them which is good and made reference to the letter from the KTK food group going to those on the allotment waiting list. I did have some opportunity to talk to people about Transition Towns and our food growing sites. Some people had never heard of Transition Towns so it was beneficial. One person said that he would come to one of our work sessions.
 
WAITING LIST
47% on the waiting list are from NW10. There were also quite a large number from NW6 and the surrounding area. Obviously not everyone on the waiting list would want to work with T. Towns but at least we know that there are a lot of people in our area who want to grow food.
 
SHARED PLOTS
It was suggested that the Brent website be used to link up those who want to share a plot as the plots are very big. Brent said that they would do all they could to faciliate This. 

The strategy will also be discussed at the Kilburn to Kensal Area Consultation Forum on 4 April at 7.00 at the Granville Plus Community Centre, 80 Granville Rd NW6 2BX. This might be an opportunity to find some volunteers for our sites.

Re Brent Magazine, Marjorie, would you like me to take some photographs at Queens Park? Also we have some professional ones done by Jonathan last year.

Re Seed/seedling swap. I'm running a workshop in Peterborough Sat April 21st so won't be able to help this year (unless people felt Sunday 22nd would be equally good, in which case I'm happy to be involved again.)
