Just saw this article and wondered whether the Govt's now going to slowly admit something's up with Peak Oil:

My friend Nathan from Transition Malvern sent me a guide to public-facing Climate Change advocacy that's really good. I strongly recommend everyone in the Comms and Awareness/Education teams take a look - I've only read the intro so far but it already makes a lot of sense. It's called "Sell the sizzle, not the sausage" and you can download it here:

I find myself increasingly annoyed at being offered plastic bags by every single shop assistant - in fact it's not 'every' shop assistant, but it is most.
Sainsbury's on Kilburn High Road have taken away their bag recycling spot and since they claim they can't leave boxes for use it's all gone a bit silly.
I took exception to a shopper in front of me two days ago who bought a bag of food (that was bagged) and wanted another bag to put it in... has the shopping world gone…

We have only one week to pull together and fight what will ruin the top of Kensal Rise. We need your support to preserve our thriving community and not turn it into a giant bus depot!
Brent Council is trying to build a new bus stop and layby to accommodate three buses on Chamberlayne Road, just outside Minkie’s Deli. This involves cutting down the beautiful healthy and mature tree, and narrowing the pavement which will then be too narrow for a pushchair – all to create a layby at the…

This sounds like a great film. It would be good to drum up some publicity for the film. And to do something positive to get people engaging with the food group while they are thinking about what they eat. Anyone want to work with me on this? Or is anyone doing something I can help with?? We could do a leaflet about food group plans (are they any??) Maybe we could have a quick food group meeting to jot some ideas down.

Plans are afoot for a London Permaculture Festival some time this summer It’s high time we strengthened and celebrated London’s vibrant yet scattered Permaculture & Transition community. Our aim is to connect people and groups, share news, information & skills, and have a good time while we’re doing it. We’re looking for as many people as possible who are directly or indirectly involved in Permaculture to help form a strong and…

Hello!
Would any of you know of someone who is knowledgeable about permaculture, enthusiastic, not camera shy, and a good communicator, to be a presenter for an internet TV station series on permaculture.
I need to do a pilot video for this and am looking for someone who could be a presenter, but he or she doesn't have to be a professional presenter.
Please get back to me if you know someone who would be interested.
Many thanks,
Rani

Here's to thee, old apple tree, Whence thou may'st bud And whence thou may'st blow! And whence thou may'st bear apples enow! Hats full! Caps Full! Bushel, bushel, sacks full! And my pockets full too! Hooray!
More than 80 people gathered in Willesden Green to continue an ancient tradition of blessing and celebrating apple trees on old twelfth night. Walking in procession behind a wassailing banner from Willesden Green tube to the library,…

For anyone who hasn't come across the 10:10 campaign - it was launched a few weeks ago and aims to get people and organisations to commit to cut their carbon emissions by 10% by the end of 2010 - hoping to create enough pressure to encourage the government to make a national commitment. The project is backed by the guardian - see http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/10-10 for more...
The campaign is gathering real momentum... there is going to be a motion in Parliament this week…

At the meeting following the first TT K to K film night at The Lexi on the 16th September George Latham asked everyone to think about two things :
1 What can we do to keep you engaged in TT K to K?
2 What kind of events or activities would you like to see happen under the Transition Town banner?
Thank you for all your diverse, inspired and inspiring responses.
Question 1
Keep in touch – email; Website

At our stand on Queen's Park Day people were invited to stick labels on a large scale map of the Kensal Rise to Kilburn area describing some of the things they've done, or hope will happen to make our area a better place to live.
Here are some of our collective achievements, hopes and dreams -
Already here :
Willesden Cemetery – Tombstones Apiary locally made honey
Willesden Cemetery – Salusbury School Green Space, growing fruit , veg and flowers and having fun…

The Transition Towns movement began as a grassroots attempt by communities to work out for themselves how to address the twin problems of climate change and the end of cheap oil. Transitioners believe that life will be better – more local, more in touch with nature, more vibrant, less stressed, less chemical – after oil, and that we will be better prepared to deal with the challenges if we start working together now.
A Transition Town initiative is a group of concerned individuals who use…
