Plastic bag ban for Kilburn?

I find myself increasingly annoyed at being offered plastic bags by every single shop assistant - in fact it's not 'every' shop assistant, but it is most.

Sainsbury's on Kilburn High Road have taken away their bag recycling spot and since they claim they can't leave boxes for use it's all gone a bit silly.

I took exception to a shopper in front of me two days ago who bought a bag of food (that was bagged) and wanted another bag to put it in... has the shopping world gone… Continue

URGENT - Save Kensal Rise from becoming a bus depot!

We have only one week to pull together and fight what will ruin the top of Kensal Rise. We need your support to preserve our thriving community and not turn it into a giant bus depot!

Food Inc at Lexi Cinema

This sounds like a great film. It would be good to drum up some publicity for the film. And to do something positive to get people engaging with the food group while they are thinking about what they eat. Anyone want to work with me on this? Or is anyone doing something I can help with?? We could do a leaflet about food group plans (are they any??) Maybe we could have a quick food group meeting to jot some ideas down.

presenter needed for permaculture TV series

Hello!

Would any of you know of someone who is knowledgeable about permaculture, enthusiastic, not camera shy, and a good communicator, to be a presenter for an internet TV station series on permaculture.
I need to do a pilot video for this and am looking for someone who could be a presenter, but he or she doesn't have to be a professional presenter.

For anyone who hasn't come across the 10:10 campaign - it was launched a few weeks ago and aims to get people and organisations to commit to cut their carbon emissions by 10% by the end of 2010 - hoping to create enough pressure to encourage the government to make a national commitment.
